Pleural mesothelial cells were harvested from New Zealand white rabbits. The abdomen was opened to expose the diaphragm. Hank's balanced salt solution was injected into this cavity to rinse. Next, the cells were dislodged with trypsin-EDTA. the cells were cultured in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) supplemented with 10% fetal calf serum, 100 U/mL penicillin, and 100 ug/mL streptomycin.
