P19CL6 is a clonal derivative isolated from murine P19 embryonic carcinoma cells by limiting dilution method (Habara-Ohkubo 1996 ). Unlike P19 cells, whose utility is limited because of their multipotential properties, this CL6 subline efficiently differentiates into beating cardiomyocytes with adherent conditions when treated with 1% DMSO. As almost all cells differentiate into cardiomyocytes with expression of cardiac-specific genes, P19CL6 is thought to be a useful in vitro model to study cardiomyocyte differentiation (Habara-Ohkubo 1996 ).
