Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer—
Designed for Your Precious Samples and High-Investment Applications
|
Who should use the Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer?
Ask yourself:
If you answered YES to any of these questions, then the Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer is for you!
- Are your samples rare and difficult to process?
- Do you have only small quantities of DNA, RNA or protein after extraction?
- Is the sample going to be used in expensive downstream experiments?
- Do you use applications like quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) that require precise measurements?
- Will you perform transfection or other applications where it may be days or weeks before you get results?
- Are you doing complex sample preparations that require special skills, such as laser capture microdissection?
If you answered YES to any of these questions, then the Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer is for you!
How Does it Work?
The Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer utilizes specifically designed fluorometric technology using Molecular Probes® dyes to quantitate biomolecules of interest. These fluorescent dyes emit signals ONLY when bound to specific target molecules, even at low concentrations.
The color touch screen allows you to easily navigate through the different options (Figure 1).

Figure 1. Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer sample workflow. 1. In the initial menu, select the desired assay. 2. Follow the instructions to enter each standard tube in the required order. 3. Measure your sample. 4. The Qubit® 2.0 fluorometer can calculate concentrations for you. Just input the volume of sample used and the desired units of concentration.
The Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer will save your data with the data logging function and allows you
to transfer data using the USB drive. In addition, new features such as showing the standard curve after the calibration makes the Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer a truly user-friendly instrument (Figure 2).

Qubit® Assays
The Qubit® assays for use with the fluorometer are all performed using the same general protocol. A simple mix-and-read format is used, with incubation times of only 2 minutes required for DNA and RNA assays (Figure 3).

An Integrated Solution Qubit® Assay Kits work seamlessly with the Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer, giving you the highest accuracy and sensitivity, and leading to better results in downstream experiments. Just choose the assay, open the kit, and you're ready to quantitate—all settings and calculations are performed for you in 5 minutes or less. Simplicity—No Need to Freeze Qubit® assays were designed to be performed at room temperature. For best results, store reagent and buffer at room temperature to streamline your workflow. PLEASE NOTE: Qubit® Assay Kits are compatible with both the Qubit® 2.0 Fluorometer and the original Qubit® (1.0) Fluorometer.
