ProLong® Gold Antifade Reagent
![]() |
The ProLong® Gold antifade reagents suppress photobleaching and preserve the signals of your fluorescently labeled target molecules. For added convenience, ProLong® Gold antifade reagents containing the blue-fluorescent nuclear counterstain DAPI are also available, eliminating the need for a separate counterstaining step. |
|
Outperform the competition across the spectrum
ProLong® Gold antifade reagent outperforms all other commercially available antifade reagents and causes little or no quenching of the initial fluorescent signal.
|
Compatible with the broadest range of dyes
ProLong® Gold antifade reagents offer excellent compatibility with a multitude of dyes across the spectrum, making them especially valuable tools for multicolor applications.
|
Stabilize sample signals for months
ProLong® Gold antifade reagents cure within 24 hours, forming a semi-rigid gel. Mounted samples can be saved for months with appropriate storage.

Detailed Protocols using ProLong® Gold Antifade Reagent

Figure 1—A 20-second time series showing the enhanced resistance to photobleaching afforded by ProLong® Gold antifade reagent. Fixed bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cells (BPAEC) were labeled with anti–alpha-tubulin antibody (A11126) and visualized with fluorescein goat anti–mouse IgG antibody (F2761). The samples were mounted in ProLong® Gold antifade reagent (P36930, top) or phosphate-buffered saline (bottom). Images were acquired at 5-second intervals using a 40x/1.3 NA oil immersion objective with continuous illumination from a standard 100-watt Hg-arc lamp.

Figure 2—ProLong® Gold antifade reagent outperforms competitors’ antifades across the visible spectrum. While competitors’ reagents preserve signal strength at only specific wavelengths, ProLong® Gold antifade reagent offers stability across the entire spectrum.
