• Is inherently less hazardous (health/physical) compared to preceding or comparable product
• Reduces the need to use other hazardous materials
• Is reformulated not to be hazardous for transport
• Is less hazardous to dispose of than a preceding Invitrogen product

Less Waste; Use of Fewer Resources

Our products that produce less waste or use fewer resources meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Requires less materials than preceding or comparative product
• Reduces the need to use other materials (e.g., plastic consumables)
• Has >10% recycled content
• Has content from renewable resources

Energy Efficient

Our energy efficient products meet one or more of the following criteria:

For Instruments

• Operates with less energy (at least a 10% gain in efficiency over previous product)
• Is designed to utilize alternative power sources (e.g., solar, wind)
• Meets a widely recognized standard for energy efficiency (e.g., Energy Star®)

For Chemicals

• Chemical reactions require less energy (e.g., to heat or cool) than comparative reactions

Sustainable Packaging

Our products that have sustainable packaging meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Requires no packaging (e.g., soluble pouches, downloadable software)
• Shipped ambient instead of cold chain (avoids EPS coolers)
• Has reduced packaging material (including being “right-sized”), increased recycled content, or is readily recyclable at end-of-life, compared to preceding product package configuration
• Is reusable
• Is biodegradable
• Is compostable

• Is upgradeable
