In order to assist laboratories in standardizing to units set by the World Health Organization (WHO) for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) nucleic acid testing, we now provide traceability to the 1st WHO International Standard for EBV with AcroMetrix® EBV panels and controls.
A conversion factor between AcroMetrix® EBV copies (cp) and International Units (IU) has been established as:
10 AcroMetrix® EBV copies = 1 EBV International Unit
Currently, certificates of analysis will display both copies and IU, but eventually we will label EBV Panels only in IU/mL. Viral concentrations in each control or panel member have not changed, so your results with AcroMetrix® controls and panels should remain consistent.
