The Ion Proton™ Sequencer Delivers the same simple, easy-to-operate chip loading as the Ion Personal Genome Machine™ (PGM™) Sequencer. Simple open the chip holder, place the chip inside, and secure.

The Ion Proton™ Sequencer has an easy-to-use, intuitive graphical interface that is designed to enable users at every level to rapidly navigate the sequencing process. The touch screen will enable users to quickly and easily start a run or perform maintenance functions, and the embedded videos provide further clarification for the novice user. Progress bars, alert notifications, and wizards will all create an efficient interface that ensures the user goes from sample loading to results with a minimum of hands-on interaction.

The Ion Proton™ Sequencer is built with state-of-the-art electronics and will quickly process the data generated by the high-density Ion Proton™ Chips. The speed and processing capacity to these advanced electronics support the next generation of Ion semiconductor sequencing chips that are nearly 1,000 times as powerful as original Ion 314™ Chip, yet will deliver an entire human genome in just a few hours.

The Ion Proton™ Chips will deliver a human genome or human exome in just a few hours, faster than any other sequencing tehcnology. The chips use CMOS semiconductor chip technology similar to that found in digital cameras, but instead of capturing light, the chip "sees" chemistry and translates it directly into digital data. Harnessing over a decade of Moore's Law advances in a single leap, the Ion Proton™ I Chip has 165 million wells-about 100-fold more than the Ion 314™ Chip. The Ion Proton ™ II Chip scales further to 660 million wells-about 1,000-fold more than the Ion 314™.
