Western blot processing - made easy
-
Western analysis of proteins is an essential part of many workflows because of the high sensitivity and specificity that can be obtained. However the process is long and time consuming. A typical western analysis protocol can take between 6 and 16 hours to perform, and a significant part of the time is spent on western blot processing. The western blot processing may include more then a dozen individual blocking, washing, incubation, and rinsing steps. This lengthy and tedious process can result in inconsistencies and errors. The BenchPro™ 4100 Western Processing System is designed to eliminate the need for manual processing of routine liquid-handling steps. With an on-board CPU and an intuitive interface, the BenchPro™ system makes it easy to create and run western protocols reproducibly and error-free.
Your protocol - your way
-
-
The BenchPro™ 4100 Western Processing System consists of the BenchPro™ 4100 Card Processing Station and the BenchPro™ 4100 Western Cards. The card-processing station is pre-programmed with the most commonly used western protocols and is capable of storing additional protocols. The station provides the flexibility to either select from a list of existing protocols or create and save your own favorite western protocol for more consistent and reproducible run-to-run experimentation. You can program your exact protocol with no need for re-optimization.
No cross contamination and no cleanup required
-
-
The BenchPro™ 4100 Card Processing Station uses a disposable card - the BenchPro™ 4100 Western Card - to process the western blot membrane, so there is no danger of cross contamination and no tubing to clean after processing. The card which holds the membrane to be processed is inserted into a slot on top of the BenchPro™ 4100 Card Processing Station and reagents are delivered to the card from the reagent bottles and vials using built-in pumps. Up to four western blot membranes can be processed simultaneously. Delivery of a consistent amount of solution at precise time points leads to increased reproducibility compared to manual processing.
Automation without the need for reoptimization

(A ) Manual processing; (B) BenchPro™ 4100 system processing. Lane: 1 - 8ul of a 1:10 dilution of MagicMark™ XP standard; lane 2 - 50 ng BSA; lane 3 - 25 ng BSA; lane 4 - 10ng BSA. Proteins were detected using rabbit anti-BSA antibody and WesternBreeze® Chemiluminescent kit - Anti-Rabbit. Detection substrate was added to both membranes, and the blots were imaged at the same time.
The BenchPro™ 4100 Western Processing System automates your protocol and relieves you from tedious work - there's no need to change or re-optimize your protocol.
Compatible with all western reagents and detection systems
-
The system is compatible for use with all chromogenic, chemiluminescent and fluorescent immunodetection reagents and protocols. The reagents are added to the supplied reagent bottles and vials and placed in the reagent tray in the processor. Based on the pre-programmed or custom protocol, the reagents are delivered to the card containing the western blot membrane for processing.
