Lipofectamine® LTX with Plus™ Reagent
Superior Plasmid delivery
Most efficient reagent for plasmid delivery and protein expression
Maximize Protein Expression and Cell Viability
Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent offers a new, advanced solution for gene expression studies in hard-to-transfect cells. No other transfection reagent can match the efficiency, convenience, and gentleness of Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent for transfection of primary, difficult-to-transfect, and sensitive cell lines.

Transfect primary cells efficiently
Primary cells have traditionally been difficult to transfect. Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent, when combined with PLUS™ Reagent, solves the problem of transfecting primary cells, including primary neural progenitor cells (Figure 1).
Figure 1: Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent, with PLUS™ Reagent, efficiently transfects primary neural progenitor cells. Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent (1.5 μl) was used to transfect murine embryonic primary neural progenitor cells with the indicated quantities of a GFP-expressing plasmid in the presence of PLUS™ Reagent (2.5 μl). GFP expression was analyzed 24 hr posttransfection. Data courtesy of the Beverly Davidson laboratory, University of Iowa.
Superior delivery into hard-to-transfect cells
When it comes to achieving high levels of protein expression in RAW267.3 macrophages, Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent outperforms competing transfection reagents (Figure 2)*. Achieving high-level transgene expression in cells that are traditionally refractory to transfection allows you to obtain results that were previously unattainable.
Figure 2: Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent, with PLUS™ Reagent, outperforms FuGENE® 6 and FuGENE® HD reagents. * Each reagent was used to transfect RAW267.3 macrophage cells in a 96-well format, and GFP expression was analyzed 48 hr posttransfection. Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent, in the presence of PLUS™ Reagent, provided higher transfection efficiency and GFP expression than the FuGENE® 6 and FuGENE® HD reagents. Broad compatibility with cell lines
In addition to being excellent for transfecting primary and difficult-to-transfect cells, Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent provides you with the most versatile approach to transfecting established cells lines, including those that are sensitive to other transfection reagents (Figure 3).
Figure 3: Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent combines high transfection efficiency with low cytotoxicity superior to FuGENE® 6 and FuGENE® HD transfection reagents. Activity/toxicity analysis measures the ratio of peak gene expression to cytotoxicity, with higher ratios indicating optimization of transfection efficiency with low cytotoxicity levels. Ten cell lines were transfected with luciferase-expressing plasmids following recommended protocols for the respective reagents. Cells were analyzed for toxicity using the Vybrant® Cytotoxicity Assay Kit (Cat. no. V23111) and assayed for luciferase expression. The data were normalized to the activity/toxicity ratios for the FuGENE® HD reagent.
Simple, rapid serum-compatible protocol
Lipofectamine® LTX Reagent has a new easy protocol with improved performance. No need to remove transfection complexes, or change medium following transfection. You’ll spend less hands-on time, and get better results, faster.
