Fast and Easy Staining Protocol. The SimplyBlue™ SafeStain protocol is easy to perform and can be completed in less than 3 hours (Figure 1). Bands begin to develop immediately in the stain. Destaining is not required, but may be performed to achieve maximum sensitivity and crystal-clear background. The SimplyBlue™ microwave procedure will yield results in just 12 minutes.
Sensitive Staining Results. SimplyBlue™ SafeStain combines a unique colloidal Coomassie® G-250 staining solution with an optimized staining protocol to guarantee nanogram-level sensitivity. 1 µg of protein can be detected after just 5 minutes in the stain. With additional water-based destaining, as little as 7 ng of protein (reduced BSA) can be detected (Figure 2). Safe, Non-Hazardous, Staining. Unlike traditional R-250 and some G-250 Coomassie® stains, SimplyBlue™ SafeStain does not require methanol or acetic acid fixatives or destains. Risk of hazardous exposure and unpleasant odors are eliminated, creating a healthier lab environment. In addition, SimplyBlue™ SafeStain has been independently tested for safety and confirmed to be non-hazardous, non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-corrosive. Therefore, in most cases, it can be disposed of down the drain.** |

Samples were separated on a NuPAGE® Novex® 4-12% Bis-Tris gel, stained with SimplyBlue™ SafeStain for 1 hour, then destained overnight with the recommended water-based destain.
Contents & Storage
SimplyBlue™ SafeStain is supplied as a 1X ready-to-use staining reagent. Store at room temperature. The SimplyBlue™ staining solution is guaranteed to be stable for 6 months when properly stored. There are no HazMat charges associated with this product.
