1D Electrophoresis
Electrophoresis Overview
|
Electrophoresis is a simple, rapid, and sensitive analytical tool for separating proteins and nucleic acids. An electric current is passed through a medium containing the target mixture, and each type of molecule travels through the medium at a different rate, depending on its electrical charge and/or size. Agarose and acrylamide gels are the most common media for electrophoresis of nucleic acids and proteins, respectively.
Invitrogen offers a full line of Novex® high-performance pre-cast gels, standards, stains, and western blot products for protein separation and analysis needs. The patented neutral pH NuPAGE® pre-cast gel system is widely used for life science research, clinical studies, protein drug screening and QC, and much more. |
