Noncoding RNA (ncRNA), such as microRNA (miRNA) and other small ncRNAs are the focus of  one of the most exciting new areas of molecular biology. More and more experimental evidence demonstrates that they play a central role in how the genome is regulated, and how traits are passed on or eliminated by environmental and genetic factors.
