Taq DNA polymerase is a thermostable DNA polymerase named after the thermophilic bacterium Thermus aquaticus. It can withstand prolonged incubation at temperatures up to 95“C without significant loss of activity.

Life Technologies most popular Taq DNA polymerase for standard PCR amplification is AmpliTaq® DNA polymerase. For higher specificity we recommend one of our highly referenced hot start enzymes, AmpliTaq Gold® for templates under 3 kb and Platinum® Taq DNA Polymerase for templates 3-10 kb. AmpliTaq® polymerases are also available in 360 buffer formats, ultra-pure enzymes that help reduce false positive results and improve amplification of low-level target sequences. Many Life Technologies Taq Polymerases have optimized protocols on Veriti® thermal cyclers.
