Nucleic acid extraction from biological ﬂuids and cell-free samples (serum, plasma, swabs, cell culture media, blood, semen, feces, soil and milk) presents unique challenges including low concentrations of extractable nucleic acid, large volumes to be processed, and sample complexity. The isolation procedure must also be compatible with real-time PCR.
The MagMAX™ Sample Preparation System addresses these issues, without using organic solvents or nucleic acid precipitation, minimizing the problems often encountered with filter-based nucleic acid isolation methods (clogging, large elution volumes, and inconsistent yields).
|MagMAX™ Is Designed to Provide Highly Effective Pathogen Nucleic Acid Isolation from Diverse Sample Types. In this example, the efficiency of nucleic acid extraction from swine associated pathogens (PRRS: porcine reproductive virus; SIV: swine inﬂuenza virus; M Hyo: Microplasma hypopneumoniae; TGEV: transmissible gastroenteritis virus) was compared using the MagMAX™-96 Viral RNA Isolation Kit with 50 µL sample and Company Q filter columns with 140 µL sample. Even with less sample input, pathogen detection was as sensitive (equivalent CTs) or more sensitive (lower CTs) using nucleic acid isolated with MagMAX™ RNA.|
