The E-Gel® Electrophoresis System
The E-Gel® electrophoresis system is ideal for routine analysis of PCR products, restriction digests, and plasmid preparations. No gels to pour, no buffer to make, no staining/destaining required, and no gel boxes to assemble—just load your sample and run on the E-Gel® electrophoresis system. The major components of the E-Gel® electrophoresis system are:
- E-Gel® iBase™ Power System
The E-Gel® iBase™ Power System contains a base and a power supply in one device that connects directly to an electrical outlet. With an E-Gel® iBase™ Power System, separation of DNA can typically be completed in just 7 minutes, perfect for quick analysis of your DNA fragment prior to downstream applications.
- E-Gel® Precast Agarose Gels
Choose from E-Gel® EX, E-Gel® with SYBR® Safe, and E-Gel® single comb and double comb gels. Learn more about our complete offering of E-Gel® Precast Agarose Gels. If you’re looking for speed and sensitivity, our E-Gel® EX gels are for you, with separation typically completed in 10 minutes.
E-Gel® EX Gels—Our Fastest, Most Sensitive Precast Agarose Gels
- Separation of DNA or RNA samples typically in 10 minutes
- Avoid the hazards of UV exposure and get greater sensitivity
- Access gels easily and safely for use in downstream applications
E-Gel® EX gels offer complete resolution of DNA or RNA samples typically in just 10 minutes. These gels are ideal for a quick check of the integrity of RNA samples or routine analysis of PCR products and plasmid preparations (Figure 1). E-Gel® EX gels were developed for superior sensitivity over comparable gels containing ethidium bromide (Figure 2), allowing you to use less of your valuable sample.

7-Minute DNA Separation—E-Gel® Precast Agarose Gels, E-Gel® iBase™ Power System, and E-Gel® Safe Imager™ Transilluminator
Results in a fraction of the time with the E-Gel® iBase™ Power System
Separate 50 bp to 10 kb samples typically in just 7 minutes, using the “Speed E-Gel®” preset program on the E-Gel® iBase™ Power System (Figure 3). Choose 0.8%, 1.2%, or 2% agarose concentrations, and E-Gel® gels incorporated with either SYBR® Safe stain or ethidium bromide.
