iPS Cell Research
Invitrogen Offers Solutions for Every Step of the iPS Cell Workflow
Our wide array of primary and stem cells, including neonatal and adult dermal fibroblasts, epidermal keratinocytes and adipose derived stem cells, can be used for Induced Pluripotent Stem cell (iPS cell) generation. Each lot of cells has donor consent and is performance tested for viability and growth potential providing you with a consistent source of cells for optimal reprogramming.

About iPS Cells
The discovery in 2006 that human and mouse fibroblasts could be reprogrammed to generate induced pluripotent stem cells(1-3) (iPSC) with qualities remarkably similar to embryonic stem cells has created a valuable new source of pluripotent cells for drug discovery, cell therapy, and basic research.
Invitrogen products have been an integral part of iPS cell research from the initial discovery of iPS cells(1-4) to current breakthroughs.(5-7) Our broad technology platform provides optimized tools for each step of your pluripotent stem cell (iPS cell) workflow: from isolation and expansion of somatic cells to validation and differentiation of iPS cells.

Reprogramming of somatic cells for Induced Pluripotent Stem cell (iPS cell) generation can be accomplished by a number of technologies. Invitrogen provides both lentiviral and eletroporation transduction tools for the efficient introduction of reprogramming genes into somatic cells.
GIBCO® media and reagents have been at the forefront of pluripotent stem cell research for years. Knockout™ DMEM supplemented with Knockout™ Serum Replacement is the media of choice for embryonic stem cell growth and now iPS cell culture.(3-9) In addition, StemPro® hESC SFM can be used for feeder-free iPSC culture and the new Knockout™ SR XenoFree for feeder-free, xeno-free culture of iPSCs.
Invitrogen offers a number of high-quality growth factors and cytokines for targeted differentiation of Induced Pluripotent Stem cells (iPS cells). These proteins are extensively tested to ensure high biological activity, high purity, freeze-thaw stability, and structural homogeneity.
Validating iPS cells to ensure they are pluripotent or have differentiated into the desired cell lineage is a critical step in your research.
Life Technologies provides a comprehensive set of resources for iPS cell research including print and video protocols, product citations, tips and tricks and technical support.
