CHO cells
![]() | Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the most widely used mammalian cells for transfection, expression, and large-scale recombinant protein production. Since CHO cells provide stable and accurate glycosylation, they offer a post-translationally modified product and thus a more accurate in vitro rendition of the natural protein (Sheeley et al. 1997; Werner et al.1998). Researchers and manufacturers using CHO cells require high performance and yield in a serum- and/or protein-free environment. Invitrogen offers cell lines within integrated kits for recombinant protein production and products supporting CHO cell growth. |

| Flp-In™ CHO Cell Line Flp-In™ Cell Lines are designed rapidly generate stable cell lines that express a target protein from a Flp-In™ expression vector. These cells contain a single stably integrated FRT site at a transcriptionally active locus. Targeted integration of a Flp-In™ expression vector ensures high expression. The Flp-In™-CHO Cell Line was created by transfecting CHO cells with pFRT/lacZeo2 and selecting for Zeocin™-resistant clones. Co-transfection of Flp-In™ Cell Lines with a Flp-In™ expression vector and the Flp recombinase vector, pOG44, results in targeted integration of the expression vector to the same locus in every cell. The FreeStyle™ MAX System provides easy, rapid transient transfection of CHO cells in suspension cultures. Replace time-consuming stable cell line generation with large-scale functional protein production taking one week. View our FreeStyle™ CHO-S Cells. |
| GeneSwitch™ CHO Cell Line GeneSwitch™ Cell Lines stably express the regulatory GeneSwitch™ protein from pSwitch. Each cell line is tested for induction ability by transient transfection with the expression control vector pGene/V5-His/lacZ and by assaying for β-galactosidase expression after treatment with mifepristone. View our GeneSwitch™-CHO Cell Line | T-REx™ CHO Cell Line T-REx™ Cell Lines stably express the tetracycline repressor protein. Save time and effort when using the T-REx™ System. The T-REx™ Cell Lines are tested by transient transfection with the positive control vector pcDNA™4/TO/lacZ. T-REx™ Cell Lines exhibit extremely low basal expression levels in the repressed state and high expression upon induction with tetracycline. The DG 44 Cells were adapted to suspension culture then cGMP banked. The DG44 Cells (cGMP banked) and Media Kit includes L-glutamine and Pluronic® F-68 for optimal growth and protein expression of DG44 cells in a protein-free, chemically defined environment. CHO feed products
Fed-batch can be used to improve the yield of recombinant proteins and the rate of cell expansion.
CHO CD EfficientFeed™ A and B, are based on the successful chemically defined media formulations, CD OptiCHO™ Medium or CD CHO Medium. Built using chemically defined components in higher concentrations and based on typical CHO cell culture requirements, these feeds demonstrate the capability for increasing cell growth and protein production by as much as 5-6 fold versus batch culture conditions. By using the two feed supplements independently or in combination, you can optimize fed-batch protocols for both cell growth and protein yield.
