Instructions:

 

Attention - Before You Install

    1) Save any data from the csv file you wish to archive:

             a)  Go to the 'save' menu
             b)  Press 'view csv file'
             c)  Press 'save to USB'

    2) Start a new CSV file:

            a)  Go to the save screen 
            b)  Press 'start new CSV'
            c)  When prompted, press 'OK' to erase previous data and start new csv file

 

Step 1 - Download and Save to USB

Download the firmware and save it to your Countess® USB drive.

Note: Save directly to your Countess® USB drive, dragging/copying & pasting to your USB drive may result in an error.

             a)    Save the exe. file to your USB drive
             b)    Double-click file icon on your USB drive.
             c)    Click ‘Extract’
             d)    A total of 5 files should be unzipped onto your USB. Note: the files cannot be in a folder on the USB drive. They must be individual files.

 

Step 2 - Upload to Your Countess

Insert the USB drive into the Countess® USB port. Access the “Settings” Screen and press “Update” (See Figure).

You will be prompted to update. Press "OK". After pressing the “OK” button, the instrument will update with the new firmware. This may take several minutes. When the update is complete, you will be prompted to restart the instrument. The new version number (2.0) is displayed in the lower left corner of the main counting screen.		 Step 2. Update

Step 3 - Calibrate and Restart

a) You must recalibrate the instrument by going to the “Settings” menu and press “Calibrate” (See Figure).

b) Follow the instructions on the calibration screen. When the calibration is complete, you will be prompted to restart the instrument (See Figure). You are finished and ready to utilize the new features!

Step 4 - Update Your PC Software

Updated! Now compatible with Windows 7! In order to view the new Countess® 09/2009 features on your computer, you will also need to install the latest software update.

Note: The software is not required to run the instrument. Install the software only if you'd like to see the results on your computer and print a summary report.		 Countess® Software Update

Countess® IQ/OQ Certification    

Compliance with government and international standards recommends documented verification that your instruments are installed and functioning according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) procedures are critical to that process. Invitrogen now offers the test procedures necessary to support the IQ/OQ being performed by your own staff.

What is IQ/OQ ?

The Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) testing helps ensure that:

     
  • The instrumentation is installed and is operating according to Invitrogen’s documented specifications
  • Shipping is complete and all of the components of the system have been received
  • The instrument–intended purpose meets expectations (determined following a  comprehensive suite of tests using established conditions and expected results)

Who Needs it?

Customers who require verification in quality management systems such as GCP, GLP, GMP or ISO standards.

     
  • In regulated industries, compliance with government and international standards involves obtaining documented verification that the instruments are installed and functioning according to the manufacturer’s specifications. The process can be complex, time-consuming, and costly.
  • When you use our Qualification Procedures as part of your overall system validation, you save the time and effort of writing test procedures and performing the steps to ensure that the instrumentation meets its intended purpose.


What is Included?

The IQ/OQ service package includes:

     
  • A bound, printed copy of test procedures necessary to support the IQ/OQ being performed by your own staff. 
  • The package does NOT include consumables required to perform the procedures.


What Instrument is Supported?

    • Ensure that order and user documentation is available
    • Ensure that your laboratory meets Invitrogen’s site preparation requirements

    Recommended Times for IQ/OQ

    To help ensure optimal performance of your systems and to support compliance, we recommend that you have an IQ/OQ performed at the following times:

         
    • At instrument installation (if applicable)
    • On a periodic basis in accordance with your SOPs
    • After major relocation of an instrument to another location or laboratory
    • After functionality is added to the system, such as firmware or software upgrade
    • Before a previously-installed system will be used in a regulated test environment for the first time (e.g., an instrument used for basic research is transitioned for use in clinical trials research)


    The IQ/OQ service should be performed by a qualified member of your staff. Upon completion of the service, you should have recorded evidence that the system meets specified performance criteria, traceable and revision-controlled test procedures.

    Countess® Cell Counter Extended Warranty

              

    What is a Countess® Extended Warranty?
    An extended warranty will add warranty coverage to your existing 1-year manufacturer's warranty to protect your Countess® instrument. For example, if you purchase a one-year extended warranty, your instrument will be under warranty for a total of two years.

    How much does it cost?

    OPTION 1: $600.00
    At the time of your instrument purchase.

         
  • Purchase an extended warranty at the same time you purchase your Countess® instrument.


    • OPTION 2: $600.00
    Within one year after the purchase of a Countess® instrument.

        
    • Provide your instrument serial number and/or PO number at the purchase.
    • The extended warranty period will start one year after your instrument was ordered.
      For example:

    Instrument purchase date: October 30, 2008
    Extended warranty purchase: on or before October 30, 2009
    Your extended warranty period: October 31, 2009 – October 31, 2010 (If you purchase a one-year
    extended warranty).


    OPTION 3: $2,000.00
    More than one year after the purchase of a Countess® instrument.

    You can still purchase an extended warranty after your original 1-year warranty period has
    expired if your Countess® instrument is in good working condition and has neither been
    disassembled nor repaired by an unauthorized party.

     

         
    • Provide your instrument serial number and/or PO number at the purchase.
    • The deferred warranty period will start on the day after you place your order.
      For example: 

    Instrument purchase: October 30, 2008
    Extended warranty purchase: October 31, 2009
    Your extended warranty period: November 1, 2009 – November 1, 2010 (If you purchase
    a one-year extended warranty).

    How Can I Purchase It?
