Apoptosis

Apoptosis

Apoptosis (programmed cell death) is the genetically controlled ablation of cells during normal development. As with cell viability, no single parameter fully defines cell death in all systems; therefore, it is often advantageous to use several different approaches when studying apoptosis. Several methods have been developed to distinguish live cells from early and late apoptotic cells and from necrotic cells.

Invitrogen offers a broad selection of antibodies, reagents and kits for studying apoptosis. We have kits for multiparametric analysis,  ELISAs for quantitating key targets, primary antibodies validated for flow cytometry, imaging, and western blot analysis.

Annexin V Translocation

Annexin V Translocation Invitrogen offers highly fluorescent annexin V conjugates that provide quick and reliable detection methods for studying the externalization of phosphatidylserine, an indicator of intermediate stages of apoptosis. These conjugates are available as stand alone reagents or in kits designed to measure multiple parameters of apoptosis.

Products

Membrane Permeability

Membrane Permeability Later stages of apoptosis are accompanied by an increase in membrane permeability, which allows some normally cell impermeant nucleic acid stains to cross the cell's membrane. Combinations of cell permeant and cell impermeant stains have been extensively used  of the stages of apoptosis and cell-cycle distribution.
