Q: What cell types are available for commercial licensing?
A: Both Freedom™ CHO-S™ Cells (cGMP banked) and Freedom™ DG44 Cells (cGMP banked) can be licensed for commercial applications.
Q: What fields of use are allowed?
A: Many fields of use are available, including use in the production of human biotherapeutics, human vaccines, veterinary vaccines, proteins for use in human or animal diagnostics, and production of proteins for sale into research markets. Q: Is there information on these cell lines to support regulatory filings?
A: Yes. Upon commercial licensing, a Documentation Package (>200 pages) is provided which includes the entire lineage history of the cells starting at receipt of the initial vial at Life Technologies, as well as all testing reports.
General Licensing Terms
Q: When is a license required for CHO-S™ cells or DG44 cells?
A: A commercial use license is required prior to the sale of expressed proteins, or when an IND submission is being prepared for first in human clinical studies.
Q: Are separate licenses required for CHO-S™ cells and DG44 cells?
A: Yes. Each cell line requires a separate commercial use license.
Q: Is there a pull-through royalty on final products or an annual maintenance fee?
A: Only a one-time license fee is required.
Q: What is the term of the license agreement for CHO-S™ cells and DG44 cells?
A: Licensing rights are granted in perpetuity, with the exception of licenses issued to service providers, which must be renewed every five years.
