Gibco® Neomycin is produced by Streptomyces fradiae. Polymyxin B Sulfate acts by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome leading to inhibition of protein synthesis and death in susceptible bacteria. Gibco® Neomycin Sulfate is used for the prevention of bacterial contamination of cell cultures. This antibiotic is highly active against gram-negative bacteria.
