Specific for EED

EED (embryonic ectoderm development) protein is a member of the polycomb-group (PcG) family that in humans is encoded by the EED gene. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. PcG family members form multimeric protein complexes, which are involved in maintaining the transcriptional repressive state of genes over successive cell generations. EED interacts with the cytoplasmic tail of integrin beta7, the enhancer of zeste 2, the MA protein of immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), and the histone deacetylase proteins. EED mediates repression of gene activity through histone deacetylation, and it may act as a specific regulator of integrin function.
