Specific for CBX1

CBX1 (chromobox homolog 1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CBX1 gene. As a component of heterochromatin, CBX1 mediates gene silencing. It recognizes and binds histone H3 tails methylated at Lysine-9, which leads to epigenetic repression. Also, it's interaction with lamin B receptor (LBR) can contribute to heterochromatin association with the inner nuclear membrane.
