Specific for JMJD6

JMJD6 (jumonji domain-containing protein 6) is a nuclear enzyme that acts as a bifunctional arginine demethylase and lysyl-hydroxylase, and it is encoded by the JMJD6 gene. As a dioxygenase, it belongs to a family of redox enzymes specifically involved in catalyzing oxidation reactions, and they are characterized by the presence of a highly conserved jumonji C (Jmjc)-domain. As an arginine demethylase, JMJD6 plays a critical role in the histone code by demethylating histone H3 and histone H4. As a lysyl-hydroxylase, JMJD6 catalyzes target protein lysine residues by 5'-hydroxylation.
