Specific for Lipocalin-1
Lipcalin-1 (LCN1) also called tear lipocalin or Von Ebner gland protein, is a lipid binding protein belonging to the structural super family of calycins. It is initially considered specific to tear fluid but is later found to be expressed in places such as the pituitary, prostate, salivary glands, and nasal mucosa. It has an exceptionally wide ligand binding pocket leading to interaction with different substrates ranging from small molecules to receptors.
