Specific for MCP-2

MCP-2 (monocyte chemoattractant protein 2), also known as CCL8 (chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 8), belongs to the CC chemokine family. MCPs are chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils, and eosinophils. MCP-2 specifically attracts monocytes, but not neutrophils. High levels of MCP-2 are found in the small intestine and peripheral blood cells. Intermediate levels are seen in the heart, placenta, lung, skeletal muscle, thymus, colon, ovary, spinal cord, and pancreas. Low levels are seen in the brain, liver, spleen, and prostate. MCP-2 is induced by IFN-gamma, mitogens, and IL1/interleukin-1.
