Gibco® SensiCell™ RPMI (Roswell Park Memorial Institute) 1640 Medium is an enriched basal medium that enhances growth of sensitive or difficult-to-culture mammalian cells with standard Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) supplementation. Compared to classic RPMI, SensiCell™ RPMI is formulated with GlutaMAX™ and additional nutrients that can increase cell viability and viable cell density. SensiCell™ RPMI requires supplementation, commonly with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum. Many cell lines do not require adaptation to this media.

SensiCell™ RPMI uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (2 g/L) and therefore requires a 5–10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH. Cells successfully cultured in SensiCell™ RPMI, with little or no adaptation, include ST-486, HL-60, and NK-92.

This SensiCell™ RPMI is manufactured as follows:

WithWithout
• GlutaMAX™• HEPES
• Glucose
• Non-essential amino acids
• Sodium pyruvate
