Blasticidin is a potent selection agent that allows selection of stable mammalian cell lines in as little as one week. The BsdCassette™ vectors simplify the construction of custom vectors that use Blasticidin resistance as a selectable marker. Each BsdCassette™ vector is designed for use in a specific host system and offers:
  • A strong host promoter to drive expression of the Blasticidin resistance gene (bsd)(Table 1)
  • Two large polylinkers flanking the promoter and bsd gene to facilitate the construction of Blasticidin resistant vectors
Each BsdCassette™ vector carries the synthetic EM-7 promoter for expression of the bsd gene in E. coli. This eliminates the need to add a second antibiotic resistance gene for selection in E. coli. BsdCassette™ vectors provide a eukaryotic promoter for expressionin yeast (pTEF1/Bsd) or mammalian cells (pCMV/Bsd, pEF1/Bsd, pUB/Bsd) for construction of expression vectors with Blasticidin selection for a wide range of host cell types.
