Benefits of the Pippin Prep™ System
• Time savings compared to other methods
• Reproducible extractions offer more consistent results
• Narrow fragment size distributions permit more uniform colonies
• Minimal low molecular weight contamination reduce wasted colonies
• Individual sample channels minimize sample cross-contamination
Components of the Pippin Prep™ System:
The Pippin Prep™ electrophoresis instrument, which includes optics for the detection of fluorescently labeled DNA and an on-board computer with software interface.
Pippin Prep™ Kits, which contain 10 disposable pre-cast agarose gel cassettes and a reagent pack. The gel cassettes have 5 lanes, allowing 4 samples to be run along with an external size standard. The reagent pack includes that external standard as well as loading solution and electrophoresis buffer. Pippen Prep™ Kits can be purchased separately and are available in the following formats:
| SKU | Product Name | Composition | Effective Range |
| 4472170 | Pippin Prep™ Kit 2010 | 2% agarose | 100-600 bp |
| 4472171 | Pippin Prep™ 2010 CEF | 2% agarose Ethidium-free | 100-600 bp |
| 4472172 | Pippin Prep™ Kit 3010 | 3% agarose | 50-300 bp |
A Streamlined Process
The workflow for Pippin Prep™ DNA size selection consists of just a few simple steps: prepare the cassette, load 4 samples and 1 size standard into the 5 wells of the cassette using standard pipetters and tips, enter a base-pair target range via the software interface, and press "start". During the 1.5 hr run the DNA will be separated by size and collected into 45 µl fractions. Simply return at the end of the run and collect the fractions.
